Kwasi Kwarteng

Kwasi Kwarteng is a Member of the British Parliament and was elected as Conservative MP for Spelthorne, United Kingdom, in 2010. He is also a member of the Transport Select Committee of the Parliament.  Born and raised in London, Kwasi won a scholarship to Eton College at the age of 13. He proceeded to read history at Trinity College, Cambridge.

He earned a Bachelor's Degree and a Ph.D. in British History and was on the series-winning team on University Challenge in Jeremy Paxman's first year as the host. Kwasi worked as a company analyst in the City for seven years, and as a journalist.

He was Conservative Candidate for Brent East at the General Election of 2005, Chairman of the Bow Group in 2006 and a candidate for the London Assembly in 2008. He has recently published Ghosts of Empire: Britain's Legacy in the Modern World (2011).
