Samer Salty is the Chief Executive Officer and Partner at Zouk Capital LLP. He co-founded the firm in 1999 and oversees the strategic direction. He has successfully raised two technology venture funds including Cleantech Europe and is also a Founding Board Member of the European Cleantech Venture Network. In 2004, he dedicated the firm to cleantech and has since raised 3 investment vehicles dedicated to the sector. He has 24 years' experience in private equity, investment banking and technology in Europe and the United States. Salty has considerable management experience and has spent the last ten years building technology companies, being responsible for sourcing and leading two of Cleantech Europe's investments. He focuses on services, wireless, and communications. Throughout his career, Salty has kept a clear focus on technology and entrepreneurship. Prior to Zouk, he spent 5 years managing and structuring technology and wireless private equity and merger and acquisition transactions within the Technology, Media, and Telecom Group at J.P. Morgan in Europe.
Salty was also the Head of Global Markets for the Middle East region at JP Morgan, structuring large corporate finance and derivatives transactions with institutional clients. He also built strong institutional investor relations at the most senior levels. Before investment banking, Salty spent seven years designing and implementing Air Traffic Control Communications and Computer Systems for the FAA of the United States Government and a number of other international Civil Aviation Authorities. He led and managed large FAA projects while at Martin Marietta and worked both directly and as a Consultant for AT&T, Lockheed, U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and Hughes Aircraft.
Salty is also on the Advisory Board of the MIT Sloan School of Management and is on the Dean's International Council of the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy and is a member of the International Council of the John F. Kennedy Belfer Centre for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University. He is the Chairman and Co-Founder of World Links Arab Region. Mr. Salty also helped launch The Arab Region Initiative for Social Entrepreneurship for Ashoka. He holds a B.S. in Electronic Engineering specializing in Fiber Optic from Cal Poly and an M.S. in Finance from MIT.
