Scott Long

Scott Long is the founding and former director of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Rights Program at Human Rights Watch. Prior to that he was program director at the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC). 


Long holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University, and has taught at the University of Budapest, as well as holding a Fulbright lectureship at the University of Cluj-Napoca in Romania. He was a founding member of the Romanian gay and lesbian organization ACCEPT. Most recently, he was a fellow at Columbia Law School, Center for Gender & Sexuality Law. At HLS, he will continue his research into the Global LGBT rights movement and advocacy.
