Avi Shlaim Avi Shlaim is an emeritus professor of international relations at Oxford University and the author of "Israel and Palestine: Reappraisals, Revisions, Refutations" . He was born in Baghdad and grew up in Israel, where he served in the Israel Defence Forces from 1964 to 1966.
