Social Media Editor

Description:

The Social Media Editor will be responsible for managing Midan Masr’s official website and growing its presence across social networking websites, including Facebook, Twitter and other emerging social media platforms. S/he will propose and execute creative initiatives that enhance the newspaper’s web platform. The Social Media Editor will work toward harmonizing the print and online editions of Midan Masr, whilst taking advantage of the functions and possibilities provided by digital technology. S/he will direct the editorial staff on how to utilize social media to promote the newspaper’s work, connect with audiences, and find innovative ways to present content online. The Social Media Editor will facilitate between the editorial staff and digital team to ensure that social media initiatives are implemented in a proper and timely manner. S/he will be responsible for real-time analysis of traffic data and trends to inform our efforts across Midan Masr.

Qualifications:

  • Experience using social media to engage online communities
  • Tech-savvy and avid follower of social-media trends and developments
  • Experience writing and editing for technology audiences
  • Ability to think creatively about social media and how Midan Masr participates within it
  • Ability to develop and communicate an overall online media strategy
  • Very Good command of English and Arabic
  • A bachelor’s degree in any related field is desirable but not essential
